Knowledge of the person with dementia is essential in providing person-centred care for someone with dementia who is living in a care home setting, full or part time and also for day visitors.

In his youth, Gwyn was fortunate to have a car and was able to travel to local farmers' dances in Ffestiniog, the Luxor Cinema in Llanrwst or even the Theatre in Llanrwst. Before Gwyn had a car, there was the facility of a local bus service, the last bus being 9pm from Llanrwst to Pentrefoelas, Pentrefoelas being the terminus. After months of developing perhaps unrealistic hopes for The Book of You, I found it to be a perplexing, underwhelming read. Book of You are an award winning Community Interest Company based in Ruthin. Over the 12 years they've been in existence they've worked with many different client groups, creating personal life story and community story books. When John lived at Galchog, Llanfwrog as a young boy, he learned that if the wind was blowing in the right direction, he was able to hear the progress of the morning train roaring over Nant Clwyd Bridge. He knew then that it was time for him to get on his bike and cycle off to school.Clarissa is becoming more and more frightened of her colleague, Rafe. He won’t leave her alone, and he refuses to take no for an answer. He is always there.

Lost in Art - Book Of You

Waterworth’s the Greengrocers.[Miss Nellie Waterworth paid to have the bedrooms of some the Heaton Place properties extended]. Several members of the group recalled that the famous song "Cymru, Lloegr a Llanrwst" - which follows - was based at least in part on the time Llanrwst had its own passports. They had no legal meaning but were fun and many remembered them being stamped by local shopkeepers. They are collector's items now.

Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts. Also pretty much every character in this painfully stupid story is horrible. It's so horrendously bad, that anything else shines in comparison. Rafe is perfectly disgusting, though, and a creepy sort too, but a creep being creepy, doesn't add more than vivid and unsettling gore. As such I felt equally irritated and grossed out. Had there been some unreliability too, it might've been more to my liking. It is easy to distinguish the present day, the main part of the book covers seven weeks of Clarissa’s life, from the written notebooks by the font which meant that this was an easy read despite the jumps in times and place. Disappointing ending. There was no closure. I listened to the entire book and that is how it ends??? Plus, this is not one book that will give you much faith in the judicial system. For sensitive readers, be warned this story features graphic descriptions of sexual violence. Generously, this is a two star read.

Our first main subject of discussion with the group in Rhos was Bryn Euryn Quarry (known as the Brynnie)and numerous matters relating to it. This was largely due to our being fortunate enough to have the company in our group of twin sisters, Gladys and Gwyn, who had been brought up at Bryn Euryn. C. The questions mature as the years pass and it ends at age sixteen with a note to their future self along with hopes and predictions for the future.

MAKE SOME MEMORIES

Another recollection from Brian W Williams is concerning the original bridge over the river in Park Road (now the A494) in the 1960's. The present bridge was built to replace it. The old bridge was narrow with a roadway width of about 9 feet and footways either side that were approximately 1'6'' to 2' in width. The bridge sides consisted of vertical steel sections about 6' apart and 7' high. Steel tubing linked these sections from the top down at 2' centres. Brian remembers he had seen similar railway bridges to the one at Ruthin and it is his view that it was built to take the original route of the railway from Ruthin to Corwen, and the Park Place Hotel was intended to be the 'Station Hotel' with railway workers cottages in Park Road. It is now known that the railway was rerouted due to objections from the owners of Ruthin Castle, because the railway would be in view as it passed through the Cae Ddol/Lon Fawr area. Reminiscence therapy is increasingly seen as playing an important part in the care and support of people living with dementia, most notably because it has the potential to draw on early memories. These often remain intact in the minds of those who live with dementia and therefore we are able to highlight the person’s preserved abilities rather than any cognitive impairment.
