While dropping down to one HDMI input is a pity, there are plenty of soundbar rivals that don’t offer HDMI loopthrough at all, leaving you having to depend on the sometimes laggy ARC system for your main audio input. As with other premium bars on the market, like the Samsung HW-Q990B, there's also a room correction feature on hand, which automatically adjusts the bar's performance based on the acoustics of your living room. It's called SpaceFit Sound, and you can also access it in the Samsung SmartThings app. The Q930B does make a pretty good on-paper case for its price, though. Not least with its provision of a genuine 9.1.4 channels of Dolby Atmos-friendly sound, which includes a substantial wireless subwoofer and two real rather than virtual rear speakers. The subwoofer isn’t quite as refined and nimble as the Q990B’s Acoustic Lens design either. It also has to do more heavy lifting to compensate for the reduced low-frequency support from the soundbar, which can leave peak trebles just occasionally sounding a little exposed. On the front there is a small display that shows all the settings and source information. Connectivity HW-Q910B

Adaptive Sound ensures the content you are watching will always sound its best with each scene optimised by AI Sound. Watching sport, you'll feel as if you're in the stadium, or a movie, you hear the action closing in from all directions. Whether the director’s intent is to make you feel like part of the crowd or if you are required to feel like you are centre stage, the Q930B will be sure to fulfil. The Q930B is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as you would expect, and even lets you connect recent Samsung Galaxy phones to it just by tapping them against the soundbar’s bodywork. The wireless capabilities have been extended, too, for 2022 to include wireless Dolby Atmos streaming from compatible Samsung TVs. Note, though, that the wireless Atmos system supports the compressed DD+ version of Dolby Atmos rather than the ‘lossless’ True HD version of Dolby Atmos you can get via eARC or the HDMI loopthrough. Hard impact sounds hit with a little more unwanted politeness (rather than lovable brutality) than they do on the Q990B, and while the balance of sound is generally excellent, occasionally really bright trebles can sound a little too prominent. Seemingly because the smaller main soundbar doesn’t have quite as much counterpointing low-end grunt as the Q990B’s.Object-based Dolby Atmos immersive sound plays wirelessly through your Samsung Soundbar. Experience the ultimate 3D sound whether it be movie or music without the need for HDMI cables. Despite not sporting the Q990B’s Acoustic Lens, the Q930B’s subwoofer underpins the impressive dynamics of the main soundbar with ample amounts of deep but also impressively nimble bass. Precious few rival soundbar subwoofers can hit the same sort of depths without sounding forced, phutty or dislocated from the rest of the sound. At the same time, though, the Q930B’s sub doesn’t overwhelm the main soundbar, despite that soundbar being significantly smaller than the one provided with the Q990B.

Converted to Test Bench 1.2. Updated the results for audio format support via ARC/eARC, HDMI In, and Optical. Added Video Passthrough to TV results as well. The Q930B loses an HDMI input versus the Q990B, reducing connectivity to a single HDMI input, plus an HDMI output (that also supports HDMI’s eARC feature for receiving sound from compatible TVs), and an optical digital audio input. Also welcome is the surprising switch to a smaller main soundbar than you get with the Q990B. While this was presumably chiefly done to enable the Q930B to be significantly cheaper than the Q990B while offering a much higher channel count than Samsung’s previous step-down subwoofers, it also makes the Q930B less impactful on your decor and potentially a more comfortable fit under your TV screen. Encapsulate yourself in the action with 9.1.4ch sound. The Q930B delivers truly immersive surround sound from multiple speakers acoustically designed and tuned by Samsung Audio Lab. With an incredible bass boosting wireless subwoofer included and the combination of 17 speakers strengthening the sound from all angles you will be sure to experience audio that encapsulates you with pure, precise and detailed sound. use of the content you supply does not violate these Terms of Use and will not cause injury to any person or entity.It also includes an optical audio input that you can also use if your TV does not have an HDMI ARC port. Look at the HDMI ports of your TV, because if it has several, it usually has an ARC port and that has to be written next to the connection. If you can, always the best way to connect it to the TV is via HDMI, as it is the only way to enjoy Dolby Atmos sound. In addition, an HDMI cable is already included in the box. In our opinion, the Samsung HW-Q930B is one of the best soundbars we have tested for watching movies, as it achieves great definition in voices, powerful bass and a sound that surrounds you especially when the content is in Dolby Atmos. Thanks to the top speakers integrated into the bar and the rear speakers, you will be able to hear sounds also on the vertical axis. This ‘complete dome of sound’ Atmos point does raise the spectre of the Q930B’s missing rear left and rear right channels compared with the Q990B. However, while these extra channels do increase the general presence of the rear speakers in the Q990B’s overall sound balance, the Q930B manages to disperse its forward side-channel sounds well enough from the main soundbar not to leave you feeling (unless you have a really huge room) as if there’s a glaring ‘gap’ in the Dolby Atmos sound dome. that violates any law, statute, ordinance or regulation (including, but not limited to, those governing export control, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination or false advertising);
