Description

Rainbow sand art is one of the best Summer crafts for kids. This will make a trip to the beach even more fun, as you can encourage kids to collect some sand! There are shops that offer tours and experiences as well. They have so many options from boat rides to surfing, fishing to diving, and all kinds of land, sea, and sky activities. Those with a 4wd can drive across to the headland known as Double Island Point and visit the lighthouse, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views. To get to Poona Lake, turn off Rainbow Beach Road at Freshwater Road, and then continue a couple of kilometres to get to Bymien Car Park. From there the hike is signposted. Rainbow Beach Accommodation There are also some available in the Great Sandy National Park but you will need a 4wd to access these. Additionally a camping permit must be obtained. How To Obtain A Rainbow Beach Beach Permit & Camping Permit?

Driving at the wrong time can be disastrous, and many people have got bogged or even had their 4wds wash out to sea if they have been here when it’s not low tide, so always assess the environment and drive slowly!

Rainbow Melted Crayon Art– A brilliant process art activity for older children that makes a beautiful canvas We didn’t see anyone in the parking lot or on the hike, but there were plenty of people on the sand dunes. It is just that the sand dunes are so enormous, you aren’t ever close to anyone. Cooloola Great Walk Sand Dunes at the end of Cooloola Great Walk The start and end of Cooloola Great Walk Carlo Sand Blow These coloured sands at Rainbow Beach are all natural and there are so many different colours due to the iron-rich materials and vegetable dyes that have stained the sand over thousands of years.

We just had a few hours in Rainbow Beach, and we are already planning our next trip. Places to Explore Within 2 Hours of Rainbow Beach Hiking with Kids If you continue past the Coloured Sands Beach Walk towards Double Island Point you’ll get to experience something very unique if you visit at low tide – millions of soldier crabs marching down the beach! You do not need a 4WD to get to Rainbow Beach as all the main roads in are sealed roads. Additionally, all the roads in Rainbow Beach are suitable for standard two-wheel drive vehicles.I never got a picture from the lookout as it was crowded with people when we arrived and when we left. from Rainbow Beach is the Seary’s Creek day use area, which can be accessed by 2wds. It’s very easy to get to and it’s a nice place to spend a couple of hours. Steephill Cove – is often said to be the prettiest place to visit on the Isle of Wight. What is this? Steephill is a hamlet near Ventnor, and Steephill Cove lies roughly 400 yards to the south of the town. You can only get to the cove by foot, and one of the best ways to get there is to take the Coastal Footpath. Where is the poshest place in the Isle of Wight?

Coloured salt is also brilliant for mark making. Pour enough coloured salt into a tray to cover the surface. Your child can then use a paint brush or their finger to make marks in the salt. They could draw patterns or practice writing letters or even words. I’ve been to Hervey Bay and Rainbow Beach several times and they both are very unique. Besides being able to reach Fraser Island from both of them, they are actually very different. The abundance of iron in this relatively high latitude, but subtropical-type delta is ultimately responsible both the for bright colours of the ferruginous sands, and also for the pyrite from which Alum Bay (indirectly) takes its name. Can you walk down to Alum Bay?

2. See The Millions Of Soldier Crabs Marching Down The Beach At Low Tide!

These wild dolphins at Tin Can Bay have been coming here for years and you are able to hand-feed them some fish! It’s a really fun and popular experience for young and old to enjoy! It’s generally advised to seal sandstone paving to help prevent staining, as well as helping to prevent the growth of any moss or algae. You may want to consider sealing your slabs if your stone is light in colour, as any stains will be more visible, but sealing is not compulsory and there are plenty of options that will provide various results! Some sealants will simply seal and protect, whereas others can even be used to enhance the colour of your slabs. Sealing Kandla Grey Sandstone will also help to protect against other general wear such as fading which can sometimes occur over long periods. As for when to apply a sealer, there are no specific guidelines and most landscapers will have their own tried and tested methods. Some people choose to seal their paving before laying to prevent any staining during the laying process and others prefer to leave their stone unsealed for up to a year, allowing the sandstone to weather naturally first. To find out what is best for you, we always advise speaking to a local tradesperson who will be able to assess the needs of your project. You can find out more about Sealing Paving Slabs on our blog! The park caters well for families, with a playground and jumping pillow for the children. Rainbow Beach Camping
